General Criteria for The Green Property List

We look for properties that have at the very least 4 sustainable features, 2 of which energy related and at least 2 water related.

Our green criterias include:

Energy features Water features Garden features
Low energy lighting Water efficient showers Edible plants (fruit trees)
Insulation Water efficient tapware Vegetable patch
Draft seals throughout Rain water tank Drought tolerant plants
Solar panels Grey water system Mulch on garden beds
Gas hot water or heating Dual flush toilets Worm farm/compost heap
5*+ appliances Solar heated pool
Passive heating/cooling Solar garden lighting

For every home that meets the minimum criteria and is listed on our Green Property Listing, we create a report that covers:

  • General Overview (including building orientation and design)
  • Heating and Cooling
  • Energy
  • Water
  • Gardens
  • Lifestyle (what’s in walking or cycling distance).

Once the  Report has been completed, it reviewed by the owner or agent for information prior to the property being put online in the Green Property List.

If your home has been recently built (from 2004 onwards) we also include the relevant States energy/water rating for additional information. The more green features your home has the better the grading and the more appealing it will be to perspective buyers/renters.

Homes that do not currently meet the minimum standard can not be listed on the Green Property List. However with a little effort your home could possibly be upgraded so see our Services information or call us to discuss further, we’ll be happy to help.

Environmental standards for new Developments

Every new development listed on this site must meet current environmental standards as set by the relevant state and be at least 7 Star energy rated or higher. The ‘green’ features will be documented by our Sustainability Report developed specifically for developments. The report covers:

  • General Overview (includes building orientation and design)
  • Heating and Cooling
  • Energy
  • Water
  • Gardens
  • Lifestyle (what’s in walking or cycling distance).

New developments have a great opportunity to maximise sustainable features and reduce their buildings environmental footprint. The more ‘green’ features your development has the better the EcoView and the more appealing it will be to perspective buyers/renters.

Green Homes to Build

We are currently creating a new listing of ‘Green Homes to Build’.  This listing features just that, energy efficient homes with sustainability features that various building companies have on offer.  The list includes relocatable homes, kit homes and standard houses that are on offer.  For each one we document the standard ‘green’ features and list the optional extra’s so you can see at a glance what your options are if building.   The ‘green’ features will be documented by our Sustainability Report developed specifically for developments. The report covers:

  • Standard features
  • Additional extras

The more resource efficient and sustainable a home is, the more cost effective it will be to live in, it will retain and grow its resell value and assist the occupants to be healthier (assuming low/no VOC interior finishes).
