What’s involved in an apartment and unit efficiency assessment

Our services range from a simple advisory consultation (approximately 1 hour or more), a Scorecard assessment, or an energy audit.

Why choose a Scorecard assessment

There are many benefits to getting a Scorecard assessment for your apartment or unit. It provides an indication of the cost to run, tells you how well your home performs in summer and winter, where it uses the most energy and empowers you to make informed decisions and improvements. You’ll also get a Scorecard certificate with the energy efficiency star rating for your home.

Why do an energy audit

You can choose from three types of energy assessments that will help you identify ways to reduce your energy bills. This is what a Standard energy audit includes

  • Review your recent energy bills (ideally 12 months’ worth)
  • Review your home appliances and how often they get used
  • Quantify your energy use and reconcile it with your bill
  • Identify key problem areas
  • Find out what quick wins you can achieve
  • Discuss your options to reduce your energy usage and improve your comfort

You will get a summary report by email with our findings and recommendations and a list of priority actions for you.

How much does it cost

Our fee is approximately $420 including GST, depending on the size of your apartment.

If several people in your building would like an assessment, and it can be arranged on the same day, we’re happy to make this more cost-effective for everyone involved.

Bringing down costs for lower Body Corporate fees

The common areas in your building contribute significantly to Body Corporate costs for you as an apartment or unit owner. There are many ways to minimise these costs without compromising on the services they offer. Our thorough common area assessment includes

  • Common area heating and cooling
  • Energy efficiency (lighting, lifts, car parks etc)
  • Water efficiency (gardens, pools etc)
  • Waste (facilities, recycling etc)

You will receive a short and easy-to-follow report, helping you to understand how the energy and water in your buildings are used. We’ll also give you a prioritised list of actions that your Body Corporate can work through at a suitable pace.

NABERS assessments for common areas

You can also get a NABERS assessment done for your building’s common areas. By assessing the common areas in your building for energy, water and waste you can see how well your building is performing when benchmarked against others, reduce operating costs, and increase market value.
