When you’re renovating, you have a rare opportunity to include some simple features that will make a big difference to how costly it is to run your home and how comfortable it will be.
By making energy-efficient upgrades as part of your home renovations, you’ll end up with a more cost-effective, more comfortable, efficient, valuable and sustainable home.
We can review your renovation plans and step in to contribute at any stage. However getting us involved at the earliest possible stage will give you the best advantage and opportunities to discuss, consider, plan and implement our recommendations.
Sustainable renovations can make a huge difference to your home. We can measure exactly how much of a difference by providing an energy-efficiency assessment before and after your renovations and comparing your home’s Scorecard star ratings.
This example shows just how much of a difference sustainable renovations can make. When Green Moves Director, Danielle King, completed her home renovations in 2017, her home started off with a 1 Star energy-efficiency rating. After renovations, her home’s energy-efficiency rating was 7 stars.
Renovating sustainably can help you cut heating costs, even if you’re only renovating just one area of a home. Take a look at this case study of a family room renovation of a three-bedroom home in Melbourne. You’ll see what renovations they did and just how much they saved on their gas and electricity bills.
You can also choose to add a before and after Energy Efficiency Assessment (Scorecard Assessment)
Renovations can be a stressful process. Getting guidance from us means you’ll have the chance to consider every aspect of your renovations and make informed decisions based on our recommendations and discussions.
You’ll know what features will offer the best value and what to include in your renovations to improve comfort and reduce the running costs of your home. You can also use us as a sounding board for any of those many queries that come up during the process. We’re always happy to answer questions.
You’ll also get a report with prioritised recommendations so you have something to refer to as the renovation progresses. If you choose a Scorecard rating baseline, you will also get a before and potential after rating for the home.
Best of all, you’ll maximise the opportunities a renovation provides to upgrade the home, including energy-efficiency features that could also help when you come to resell in the future.
A standard consultation and feedback report on renovation plans is generally approximately $690. For an additional fee, you can choose to add a before and after energy efficiency assessment (Scorecard).
We also offer a 10% seniors discount.

Danielle responded promptly to our call for help when we suddenly needed a complete and independent review of the plans for our home makeover.
I had plans drawn up to renovate 2 small homes that were semi-detached in Barkley St, Elwood. After meeting Danie at the MBA Expo in July I asked her to review the plans with an eye on energy efficiency and sustainability to ensure we made the homes as efficient as possible. She visited the development site and returned to our home and reviewed the plans with us. She easily read the plans, understood the details, identified north orientation and symbols and was able to identify some key issues that will be easy to resolve before building starts. Danie also identified potential issues for the up coming energy rating and advised on items involved with Section J (specifically insulation) of the building code and the new energy restrictions for lighting.
